Know what your vehicle actually weighs
Vehicles can gain substantial weight through accessories, modifications, passengers, luggage and equipment. This is particularly relevant to 4WDs, touring vehicles, dual-cab utes and vehicles being prepared for towing.

What we check
Knowing the vehicle's total mass is important, but one total weight figure does not show where that weight is being carried. PROWEIGHED measures each wheel position individually.
THE ASSESSMENT PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUTTwo vehicles can have the same total mass while carrying that weight very differently. A vehicle may also remain below its total GVM while still placing substantial load through a particular axle, tyre or side of the vehicle.

Where the weight sits matters
Vehicle loading is not only about the total amount of weight being carried. Where that weight is positioned can influence individual wheel loads, axle loading and the overall balance of the vehicle.

Understanding the load on your tyres
The tyres fitted to a vehicle play an important role in carrying its actual operating load. PROWEIGHED records relevant tyre information and considers this alongside the measured vehicle loads.
Where applicable, measured wheel and axle loads can be considered alongside the load capability of the tyres fitted to the vehicle. We also check for your information the tyres age and report on this so you are aware. Tyres have a life span of 5 to 7 years. While the tyres might still have legal tread, the side walls become brittle and dry out with age heightening the risk of a tyre fail.
What this is not
This is an assessment of tyre information relevant to vehicle loading. It is not a tyre safety or mechanical inspection. PROWEIGHED does not assess for roadworthiness but merely advises for the customer to monitor.
Vehicle setup information
Weight measurements provide additional value when considered alongside how the vehicle is physically configured. Where applicable, PROWEIGHED records relevant setup information.
These measurements help document the vehicle in the configuration presented during the assessment.
Helper airbags fitted?
Where suspension helper airbags are fitted to the vehicle, PROWEIGHED records the helper airbag pressure being used at the time of the assessment. That pressure is then documented alongside the vehicle's weight and corner height measurements, which gives a useful picture of the setup as it was presented on the day.
Recording the pressure is not setting it. PROWEIGHED does not mechanically inspect the suspension or approve the suspension configuration. We will advise if we believe further inspection is warranted by a suspension expert.
Buying a caravan? Start with the tow vehicle
A vehicle-only assessment can also be useful before purchasing a caravan or trailer. It provides a real-world baseline showing how much vehicle weight and axle capacity are already being used.
This information can help you better understand the current configuration of your tow vehicle before adding a trailer.
A vehicle-only assessment allows the customer to understand on their current setup what the available payload on their GVM and rear axle is left for the Tow Ball Downforce that will be applied once a Caravan is hitched to the vehicle.

Relevant tow bar rating information may be recorded where fitted and available. Some vehicles have a tow bar weight limit less than the rate Brake Towing Capacity as this is set by the towbar manufacturer.
