What happens during a PROWEIGHED assessment?
Every vehicle, trailer and towing setup is different, but the PROWEIGHED assessment process follows a clear structure.
From confirming the setup and recording relevant information through to individual wheel measurements, reviewing the results and explaining what they mean, each stage is designed to build a clearer picture of the vehicle or trailer as it is presented on the day.
A structured assessment, from setup to results
PROWEIGHED does more than obtain a total scale reading. The stages below describe what happens on site. The exact measurements vary with the assessment selected.
Confirm the setup
When PROWEIGHED arrives, we first confirm the vehicle, trailer or combination being assessed and the way it has been presented.
We review the relevant information available for the assessment and confirm that the setup reflects your intended travelling or operating configuration.
Confirm the weighing location
Before measurements begin, PROWEIGHED confirms that the assessment area is suitable. The location needs a firm, stable and reasonably level surface with enough space to safely position the vehicle or trailer. The weighing equipment is then positioned for the setup being assessed.
A consistent weighing setup starts with a suitable location.
Document the starting configuration
Before the main weight measurements are taken, PROWEIGHED records the applicable information that describes how the vehicle or trailer is presented on the day.
This creates a record of the setup that sits alongside the weight results.
Measure at wheel level
Where applicable, PROWEIGHED measures individual wheel positions rather than relying only on a single total weight. These wheel measurements provide the foundation for the broader assessment.
This allows the assessment to look at where the load is being carried rather than only how heavy the complete vehicle or trailer is.
Complete the measurements for your assessment
Once the base wheel and axle measurements are recorded, PROWEIGHED completes the additional measurements applicable to the service selected. The process differs depending on what is being assessed.
Vehicle-only assessment. The process focuses on the vehicle itself, including applicable wheel, axle, total vehicle, tyre and setup measurements. There is no trailer connected and no tow ball mass is measured.
4WD and tow vehicle weighingThe trailer is assessed for the applicable measurements taken on its own.
This requires additional stages because the vehicle and caravan interact once connected.
This allows us to see what changes when the caravan is connected.
Vehicle and caravan combination assessmentThe process focuses on the complete loaded vehicle including the permanent fitout and travelling load.
Motorhome and campervan weighingThe boat or pontoon is assessed as part of the complete trailer package being towed.
Boat and pontoon weighingCommercial assessments follow the applicable vehicle process and can be coordinated across multiple vehicles where required.

When a tow vehicle and caravan are assessed together, the vehicle is not treated as though nothing changes once the caravan is connected. The process compares the tow vehicle in its unhitched and hitched conditions.
The tow vehicle measured on its own, loaded as it will travel.
The same vehicle measured again with the caravan connected.
Tow ball mass and the applicable caravan and combination measurements are also recorded.
Bring the measurements together
Once the applicable measurements are complete, PROWEIGHED brings the results together and reviews them against the relevant information available for the vehicle, trailer or combination.
One number rarely tells the complete story.
The results are reviewed together to provide context around how the setup is actually carrying its load.
We walk you through it
The assessment is not finished when the vehicle comes off the scales. PROWEIGHED takes you through the applicable results so you understand what was measured and what the figures mean.
Education is part of the assessment.
You receive the applicable PROWEIGHED assessment report documenting the vehicle, trailer or combination as it was presented on the day. It provides a record of the applicable measurements, comparisons, findings and recommendations.

Commercial and fleet assessments can be coordinated across multiple vehicles at a suitable location. Where arranged, vehicles can be assessed consecutively using the same structured process, with individual results recorded for each vehicle. After-hours sessions may also be available by arrangement.
