Built from 18 years in the automotive industry and one problem that kept showing up.
PROWEIGHED was created to give vehicle, caravan and commercial operators a clearer understanding of what their setup actually weighs, where that weight is being carried and how much capacity remains.
But the idea did not start with a set of scales.
It developed over nearly two decades of working with vehicles, modifications, towing setups and the people who use them.
Meet Mitchell
Hi, I'm Mitchell.
I've spent the past 18 years working in the automotive industry, helping thousands of vehicle owners with everything from suspension and towing setups to 4WD accessories, 12V systems, caravan setups, performance upgrades and vehicle modifications.
That experience gave me the opportunity to be involved in the build and development of some of the most recognised touring vehicles in the Australian 4WD industry, including Sooty, Dirty 30 MKII and Milo 2. I also contributed technical automotive content to 4WD Monthly, providing technical write-ups and expert input across a range of vehicle builds and modifications.
Working on and around these vehicles meant seeing firsthand how carefully planned setups performed once they were put to work in the real world. Many went on to travel extensively across Australia, completing repeated long-distance trips through demanding and remote conditions.
That experience reinforced something that has stayed with me throughout my career:

Before PROWEIGHED, my career was built around helping vehicle owners develop, modify and better understand their vehicles.
That experience also created opportunities to help build some of the most recognised vehicles to tourer our country including Sooty, Dirty 30 MKII & Milo 2. I also contributed technical automotive content to 4WD Monthly, including technical write-ups and expert automotive input. It meant working on and around some highly recognised vehicles and people within the Australian 4WD industry, and seeing how well-planned vehicle builds performed once they were actually put to work.
Many of those vehicles went on to travel extensively across Australia, including repeated long-distance touring in demanding and remote conditions. That reinforced something that has stayed with me throughout my career.

Every accessory has a weight
Throughout my career, I kept seeing the same situation. Customers would invest heavily in building capable vehicles and caravans.
None of those additions are necessarily a problem by themselves. The issue is cumulative.
A small amount of weight added here and another modification added there can gradually consume the available payload. The owner can end up with an extremely capable and well-equipped vehicle without necessarily knowing:
That was the gap I kept seeing.
The complete picture can be hard to see
The automotive industry is made up of specialists. A suspension business focuses on suspension. An accessory business installs accessories. An auto electrician builds the electrical system. A fabricator may install the canopy, service body or storage system.
Each business is understandably focused on the part of the vehicle it is responsible for. But by the time a vehicle has moved through several workshops and accumulated years of modifications, very few people have seen the complete picture. The same is true for caravans, and it is equally relevant to commercial vehicles.
Each addition consumes capacity. The challenge is understanding what the finished vehicle actually looks like from a weight and load-distribution perspective.
That gap became PROWEIGHED
PROWEIGHED was built around a simple principle. Knowing what a vehicle, trailer or combination weighs is important. Understanding what those numbers actually mean is even more important.
I did not want to build a business that simply placed a vehicle on scales, provided a total number and moved on to the next job. The goal was to create a more complete assessment process. One that looks at how the setup is actually configured, loaded and used. One that gives customers information about where the weight is sitting. And one where the results are explained rather than simply handed over.

This isn't about telling people not to modify their vehicles
PROWEIGHED was not created to tell people they should not fit accessories, canopies, batteries, solar, water tanks, touring equipment, service bodies, tools or storage systems.
Those things are often what make a vehicle useful for the job it was built to do. The point is understanding the effect those additions have.
For recreational owners, that means making informed decisions before adding the next accessory or heading away.
